Remote Sessions · Step by step
How to remote shoot
Direct a model in our studio, or on location, from anywhere in the world. You control the camera, fire the shutter and every frame lands in your folder as you shoot. Here's how a session works, from booking to your finished images.
-
What you need
Very little. We provide the studio, the model, the camera and the lights.
The camera kit we supply
Choose from a Canon EOS R5 Mark II, Sony A7 IV or Nikon D600, with a choice of lenses to suit your shoot.
The camera is tethered to a laptop in the studio, so you don't need to own or bring any camera equipment.
-
Before the session
Book, pick your camera and agree the look with us before the day.
Book your session
Choose your model and time through an enquiry, or check the Casting Calls section for resident models who are available to shoot remotely.
Every remote session is one-to-one: one photographer, directing their own session.
Choose your camera
Pick the Canon EOS R5 Mark II, Sony A7 IV or Nikon D600 and the lenses you'd like. See step 1 for the full kit.
Plan the shoot together
Before the day, we agree the look together: mood board, outfits, poses and lighting.
Testing: your first time?
New to remote shooting? Tell us when you book, and we'll do a quick test call first so you feel at home with the controls.
Setting up the space and lighting
You don't need to set anything up. On the day, we set up the camera and lighting exactly as discussed, and tether the camera to a laptop ready for you.
-
Joining the call
You join a Zoom call and we hand you remote control of the camera software.
What happens when you join
Join the Zoom call from your laptop or computer at your session time. Once you're connected, we hand you remote control of the camera software on the tethered studio laptop.
If you've had a test call, the controls will already feel familiar. -
How the model and photographer work together
You direct the model live over the call, working to the look you planned together.
Directing live
The mood board, outfits, poses and lighting are agreed before the day, so the session starts with a clear plan. From there, you direct the model live as you go.
On some dates you can book two models together for a duo session. The listing for each date says when this is offered.
-
Shooting and capturing
You take the shots: you control the camera settings and fire the shutter yourself.
Your control
Everything goes through the camera software: you choose the settings and press the shutter. It's your session and your images.
Your images arrive instantly
Every frame is saved straight into your own folder the moment it's taken, so you can see your work as you shoot.
-
After the session
Your files are already in your folder. There's nothing to wait for afterwards.
Files and delivery
Every frame is already in your own folder by the end of the session, so no separate delivery is needed.
Editing and sharing
The images are yours to edit and use in your portfolio. Please credit the model and The Atelier of Muses when you share them.
